I would like to start this entry by not saying anything political. My prayers go out to everyone who lost a loved one in the September 11 tragedy, as this time of year has got to be very hard for them. I can't say anything about that day that hasn't already been said with far more eloquence than I could ever muster.

Also, Johnny Cash and John Ritter died recently, as practically everyone knows by now. I don't have many memories of Johnny Cash, but I do recall seeing lots of movies with John Ritter in them when I was a kid. He was a pretty big part of my childhood. It's strange to think of him being gone...my prayers also go out to his family, and Johnny Cash's family.

The weird thing is this: Having two "legends" die in such a short time made me realize how many others have gone before. In my lifetime, I mean. Charles Schultz. Dr. Seuss. Jim Henson. Mr. Rogers. Mother Theresa. People who, without knowing it, helped to shape my childhood and my view of the world. These people will not come again, and it's incredibly sad that they're gone. But somehow, they continue to influence the world.

I'm not sure exactly what I'm trying to say here, but I think it boils down to this: All of these people (including Johnny Cash and John Ritter) did their best to make people laugh and help them through things. I feel that they worked hard to show people that life doesn't always have to be horrible. Bad things happen sometimes, but we can rise above it.

I'm sorry if I'm not very coherent this evening. I'm tired, and my mind's not working as precisely as I would like. I've been feeling like I should say something meaningful about these tragedies, both past and present--something comforting and deep. All I can think of, however, is how tragedy tends to strike unexpectedly, so you should live your life as well as you can every day. You never know when you'll lose the chance to do so.

Luff to everyone. I'm glad you're all here, and I'm glad I have you as friends. I may not say it very often, but I mean it all the time. *snugs everyone* Thanks.

EDIT: I forgot to plug in this quiz.

For some reason, this seems appropriate.

*snugs right back* I think you said things beautifully, Elfie. And I'm certain I speak for all of us when I say that we are truly blessed to have you as a friend.
