Hi-ho, Hi-ho, It's Off To Work I Go...
Jun. 22nd, 2002 12:43 pm*pokes pensively at readers* Oi, are you alive? No comments for the past six or so entries...am I really that boring? o.O;; Maybe if I RESPONDED to my comments every so often...must ponder that option.
Anyhoos...the Great Job Search has begun. I went out last week with Alex and picked up job applications for every bookstore in the area. I figure, if I'm going to get a new job, I might as well get one that I'm going to enjoy. One of the bookstores is actually HIRING! Woo-hoo! I'm taking them my resume and their filled-out, neatly-printed application today. Think happy thoughts at/pray for me, wouldja? I really need this job.
My friends seem to be getting depressed lately. Big hugs go out to
dmscv...wish there was more I could do, hon.
I just finished reading a really fun book yesterday: The Murders of Richard III by Elizabeth Peters. If any of you enjoy mysteries, go read Elizabeth Peters. Now. Immediately. She is FANTASTIC. I mean, this book is one of her earlier ones (her later ones are even better), and it's fun. Ask
arianadream about Elizabeth Peters and the Amelia Peabody series sometime. She'll tell you.
Last week,
arianadream introduced me to the wonders of IRC. It was...fascinating. But weird. Heh.
In other news...the webpage is coming along, but it still needs more work (big surprise there). The wedding plans are also coming along. Whee.
And now...QUIZ RESULT!
YES. *grins and giggles, then poses* I AM THE AMAZING WEB-SURFER! *theme music plays in stereophonic 8-bit sound!*
But wait...there's more. Go here for my review of...
LILO & STITCH!
First of all, let's get one thing straight. Lilo & Stitch is not your usual Disney film. There is very little romance, and it certainly doesn't happen between the two main characters. People don't burst into song for no apparent reason. The women look...real, and so do the men. In short, I was already attracted to this film before I even set foot in the theater.
Lilo & Stitch is the charming story of a little girl and her pet alien, which she thinks is a funny-looking blue dog. The 'dog' in question is actually an extremely destructive alien from outer space, genetically created to destroy things. That's his one motivation. However, the movie manages to take this little alien and remotivate him with the help of a little girl and her big sister. Lilo & Stitch focuses on the real meaning of family, which is not necessarily a mom, a dad, and 2.5 kids.
The animation for this film is fantastic, and Stitch manages to be both adorable and vicious. Go see this film...and skip Scooby-Doo. Trust me. You'll thank me for it later.
