Besides being appropriate for this entry, this icon is entirely
alysaundre's fault. He said the words; I merely brought the icon into being. However, I forsee a rash of "Rrruffs have rrridges!" icons coming on. There are so many pictures for which such a phrase would make sense. Including the following.
alysaundre and I went to The True Arte of Defense in Couer du Val last Saturday. It was a good deal of fun. It was also incredibly relaxed. I cannot express how lovely it was to be able to just sit around and knit and observe and chat with wonderful people, including
lady_anyanka and
brother_al, my parents. We carpooled with the lovely
fearga, who teamed up with me to create the winning entry for the Artisan's Take-Down! We won through both extreme skill and guile. Though, honestly, I don't think this project required much guile--most people looked at it and remarked, "Awwwwww!" Some of them, including
fearga and I, just laughed hysterically.

All in all, the Elizabethan Kitten wielded the power given to all tiny, handmade kittens and carried the day.
fearga and I came home with a lovely blue leather gauntlet (which fits none of us, but would work well for youth combat), a brown wool hood (which also fit none of us, but went home with
fearga for her lovely daughter), and a very punny iron "E". We also brought home the kitten, which now resides in my workbasket.
And speaking of tiny handmade kittens: several of you have asked what the knitted kittens look like. I finally have some photos. I also need to post the final instructions for kitten assembly (thank you to
hlmauera for taking the photos for that), but that will come later.

In other news, I have been obsessed with socks lately. I can now make socks without even looking at a pattern, and that pleases me greatly. I made a pair of socks for Egil's. These socks can do tricks!

I think that's enough for now. Next entry:
