Fun Weekend and Tired Elf

I am exhausted. Absolutely exhausted. Luckily, I don't have another midterm until Tuesday.
I had an excellent weekend. Friday night, Alex and I went to a party thrown by an old high school friend of mine. It was lots of fun. I dressed up as a pseudo-pirate, though many of the other guests mistook me for a wandering gypsy. Ah, well. Time to invest in a tricorn and cutlass.
One of my favorite SCA events, Amergin's Revenge, was on Saturday.
arianadream, Alex, and I all went out there together.
arianadream and I weren't planning on entering the competition (singing, dancing, storytelling, etcetera), but when we got there, there weren't very many people. We were concerned about the survival of the event itself, so we decided to show our support by entering. Later, however, lots more bards put in their entries, so I was much less worried.
The competition started a lot later than we were hoping, but it was of excellent quality this year. I told a story about St. Brigid's childhood, and
arianadream, who was far more adventurous than I, told a story about Thor's hammer, read a poem about a dragon, and sang her "Adventurer's Drinking Song." The two of us did excellently for a couple of people who didn't have anything prepared, if I do say so myself. I was just happy to see all of the other bards--there have been times when the Amergin's competitions consisted of as few as four bards. We had over fourteen competitors this year (I don't recall precisely how many).
The prizes were pretty nifty this year, as well. I had my eye on one of the gaming boards, even though I figured I wasn't going to win anything. I wound up walking away with a couple of candelabras and a little silver-colored metal box for my story. The swag went immediately into the pirate treasure chest in my office--these little beauties will decorate the Sweet Revenge's feasting table at those events where we all can meet.
My only complaint was the coldness of the site. It's hard to heat the rustic main cabin, unfortunately, and the judges were right in front of the fire (lucky them). I was glad to be wearing wool.
Alex,
arianadream and I have been chatting about doing more in the SCA. I think that most of our plans will have to wait until next year, however.
Now, I must go and see about dinner. I'm hungry and sleepy.
