YAAARGH! Poser Rant.
Aug. 13th, 2003 09:05 pmThere's this program. It is a good program. It is called Poser. However, I am getting sick of it, and I haven't even tried using it yet.
When I first heard of Poser, I thought, "Wow, what a great artists' tool! You could pose people in the comfort of your own home, observe light and shade, and not have to hire a real, live model for your life sketches! What a great way to assist people in creating REAL ART!!!" I am singularly disappointed.
As always, this is just my opinion. I am simply aggravated by all of the "art" I'm seeing out there nowadays that is obviously "created" in Poser. The poses tend to be stiff and unrealistic, and the backgrounds tend to be confusing and hurtful to my eyes. I have no problem with someone creating a difficult pose in Poser and then modifying the picture to make it their own. I do, however, have a problem with people doing artwork exclusively in Poser without doing a line of their own work. It's very aggravating to those of us who actually work to create spiffy-looking drawings, even if our drawings don't look as polished. (Note how I leave my own art out of this.) There are many artists out on the 'net who don't use Poser and create work that looks more polished than anything Poser could produce, simply because they practice. Graaah.
Okay, I'm sleepy, and this rant isn't as coherent as I'd like. But I'm severely irritated as I keep hitting the "random" button in Elfwood and keep seeing all this Poser "art" coming up. *clicks again* Ah...lovely original art. This makes me happy. Now, I'm going to stop behaving in this highly cranky way and see about doing some writing/sleeping/both.
