Well, it's been a while since I updated. I had lots of fun and nifty things to say this week--I should have at least written them down. Ah, well. You're stuck with the inane drivelings that are left inside my head this morning.
I had my first Kinderegg yesterday. For those of you who don't know what this is, it's a kind of chocolate egg manufactured in Germany. They don't make them here in America; they have to import them. Essentially, what you get is a hollow chocolate egg that has this plastic case in the middle. Inside the plastic case is a puzzle or a little plastic diorama that you put together or any one of a lot of other things. They're all kinds of fun. Alex was stoked when he realized that you could get them here. One of his friends, Jason, had them in Germany and likes them a lot.
In other news...Amazon.com is very, very dangerous and has made me feel quite silly. I was over at my friend Tina's house (Alex was helping her finish her wedding dress), and she let me use her computer to look up an out-of-print book I've been trying to find. Of course, I went to Amazon...I'd never been there before, but I'd heard that it was the place to look for books. Unfortunately for me, Amazon also pulls up these "people who bought this book also bought THESE!" things. Of course, I saw several that I thought, "Hey, I've been looking for that!" What with one thing and another (and being forced to start over once), I bought several used books from Amazon...but none of them were the original book I had been looking for.
I also learned that, when buying used books, I should be careful. Amazon simply lets you buy books from different retailers...but you have to pay separate shipping for each retailer. Owchie.
I learned my lesson. I also have some fun books on the way. Yee!
I had a lot of fun with
arianadream on Tuesday. We got together for mochas on campus and sat around and chatted for about an hour. It was cool. I miss her.
I've been doing more sketching lately...trying to get character appearances nailed down for Casually Chaotic. I really need to practice more...figure poses give me fits, and I need to be able to draw all the characters from all different angles. Oh, and backgrounds. Grr. I want to make some actual character reference sheets, with color and everything. That will take some doing, but it should give me a lot of the practice I need, as well as help me to get all the personalities worked out. ^_^ This is a big project, and I want it to turn out well.
In other news, WE'RE GETTING A CABLE MODEM! We've been having a ton of trouble getting one (the service didn't come out here until very recently), but now we can get hooked up! No more dial-up! No more tying up the phone line! Happy day! And it's happening next week! WHEE!
Well, I don't have anything deep and meaningful to say here, other than that being married is wonderful. I've never been happier, I think. *sigh, little pink hearts flying around head* I love my husband.
Well, I should scoot and try to get some cleaning done. We've got three different groups coming over next week (gas people so we can convert from electric, cable modem people, and Goodwill to take away the old fridge and washer), and I need to make sure part of the house is presentable. Toodles!
