Writing Purist!

I'm actually writing an article about my condition called, "Confessions of a Writing Purist: Education's Curse." Maybe I'll post the article after I finish writing it.
In any case, this is how much of a Writing Purist I am: I went back through the code from one of the quizzes I took ("What Mythological Beast Are You?": LJ entry "T-shirts") and CORRECTED ALL THE SPELLING ERRORS. A friend of mine pointed them out to me, and I just COULDN'T LET IT STAND. That's kinda sad. In any case, I am now the only person that I know of who has all the spelling errors corrected on their results for that quiz. Mwaha. Well, YOU try being a Writing Tutor for five years and not notice every spelling and grammar error that comes your way! Even if I TRY to ignore them, they still stick their little metaphorical tongues out at me, mocking me with their very existence! They must be stopped!
Umm...okay, enough ranting. No worries, nice peoples--I don't edit other people's stuff without being asked, unless it's something that I'm displaying myself. ^_^ And I edit my own work with a MUCH harsher eye than I edit other people's work! *nodnods*
Socks is the word of the day. I drew this little faerie showing off her toe socks the other day, and I showed it to one of my friends in my Mac class (have I mentioned that Macs are evil?). She immediately shouted, "SOCKS!" Now, every time that she sees me, she says, "SOCKS!" I find this most amusing. ^_^ Say it with me now: "SOCKS!" Remember to talk in a pink way. This is very important.
I actually wrote a story this week. This makes me so happy! Of course, it was for a class, but STILL. It was a story! We did peer reviews in class. Have you ever done peer reviews? Of course you have. Wanna know what I hate about peer reviews? Of course you do, or you wouldn't be reading this. I hate handing someone a paper, a story, anything I've written, and having them look it over and hand it back, simply saying, "It's good!" That DOESN'T HELP ME! ;_; I'd almost rather have the person say, "This story is horrible! How dare you foist this garbage on me!" Well, maybe not. What I'd really like is for a classmate to say, "This is good, but this is how it could be BETTER." That would be greatly appreciated. I'm not saying that NOBODY does that, but most people don't. Sadness.
Before my Short Story class, I thought that my Muse had decided not to give me any ideas for writing anymore, the butthead. I've been writing notes and notes for the series I want to write, but very little in the way of actual story. Now, however, the pump has been primed and, with any luck, I'll find TIME to write. WAI!
Well...gotta go now. Homework beckons, as always. *blehs at homework and the rain outside* COLD!
