It's been a weird day...
Aug. 31st, 2003 08:28 pmIt's been a good weekend so far, at least for me. Alex and I got the house clean. And I mean clean. Well, clean except for the master bedroom and the greenhouse room in the very back of the downstairs part of the house. Still, there's been some major improvement around here. We're going to try and make sure it stays that way, as well as make further improvements.
Jason arrived safely, and he brought his laptop. We all promptly went out to Circuit City and bought him a network card so he could hook his computer up to our wireless network. This was a bit tricky, as Jason is one of those people who refuses to run Windows in his computer. He has a bit of a thing against Bill Gates for some reason. He prefers to run Linux. In fact, he runs Linux on everything--including his Playstation 2.
In any case, we got Jason hooked up to the network without any major problems. Then we all went out and got dinner, as we were hungry. Mongolian grill rocks. I am so glad we finally got one locally.
So, that was Saturday. We all stayed up really late and finally got to bed at around 2:00 am. Fun!
Of course, Jason and Alex wanted to go mountain biking today. I had no problem with this, as I was planning to have "chick time" with my mom,
arianadream, and her mom while Alex and Jason were gone. This was duly arranged, and I was dropped off at church so my mom could take me back to her house. Unfortunately, Jason and Alex were rear-ended...only about a mile from the trail they wanted to bike on...with the bikes on the back of Jason's Jeep. You can imagine how that turned out. Both bikes are essentially totaled, though there is minimal damage to the Jeep and both of the guys are okay. *whew* I still went to tea with the aforementioned girl group and had a good time, but I feel really sorry for the guys--they were really looking forward to this trip. Ah, well. Now, both of them are looking at building new bikes. They're also hoping the guy-at-fault's insurance will cover the damage to the bikes, as each bike was worth well over $700. Yikies.
Tonight, we're digesting the large dinner we just ate. Who knows what else we'll get up to? We're talking about watching movies, kicking back, and maybe trying a new recipie if we get hungry later. Woo!
Gah...I have got to get Alex to set up the scanner. I want to scan some stuff and update my Elfwood gallery, which has not been updated in about three years. That's three years. Gah. I may have mentioned that before, but that's okay.
Writing continues well, though it's taking longer and more than I expected. I also don't know where my cat is. Ah, well. He's around here someplace. I can hear him jingling.
Well, I should scoot. My brain is tired. More updates later.
P.S. Nobody seems to have found my little joke in my last journal entry very funny. Oh, well.
