*blinkblink* I've Been Apprenticed!

Two of Alex's and my SCA friends are metal and jewelry workers. They sell stuff in the SCA. Alex is already apprenticed to both of them and is learning how to make said stuff. I was in their metal shop with Alex a couple of days ago and was admiring everything and asking how it all worked, when Patty(one of the friends) turned to me and remarked, "You know, I need an apprentice. How'd you like to learn about all of this?" Of course, I accepted. Between the two of them (Patty and Fred), I'll get to learn about casting, jewelry making, chain mail, woodworking (I already got to play with the lathe!), enamelling, and lots of other fun stuff. I'm really excited. I get homework projects and things to do, and Alex and I get to learn together. Life is good. I GET TO MAKE THINGS! Also, both Fred and Patty are encouraging me to design my own things, which is what I'm REALLY excited about. I already have quite a few ideas (most of which may be beyond my scope at this point, but since when has that stopped me?). This will also encourage me to develop my drawing skills so that I can draw projects accurately.
In other news, Alex and I were at AnTir/West War over the Fourth of July weekend. That was much fun. I got to hang out with![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
arianadream for most of the weekend, which is always nice. I also got to chat with my parents and actually spend some time with them, which I don't get to do all that often. It's nice that the SCA is a family thing for us. It was also nice to just relax this weekend. I didn't have any songs prepared for the bardic circles, so I didn't have to worry about that. (Not that this happens often at all, mind you.) I wasn't required to be anywhere or do anything. I didn't even feel obligated to volunteer during the event, as Alex and I had put in several hours during setup. It was just lovely. ^_^
I've been having weird dreams lately. I wonder if it means anything.
Well, that's my random blurb for today. Tonight, Alex is going to teach me simple chain mail. Whee! I'm caffienated! Hrrrm...randomness...
