Today was a very...interesting day.
I went to church, which I always enjoy. What was really cool about today was that it was Easter Sunday, which is always a spiffy day. I believe I mentioned before how much I like Easter. Also, I was back at my home church. I've been at different churches for the past two weeks--the first one was so I could watch my brother perform in a Christian band at his friend's church, and the next one was because I was in California. It was nice to be back.

In any case, a friend of a friend of mine collapsed in church. People got him out and called the ambulance and stuff without any fuss, but people were worried. It turned out that he had just fainted. He's kinda old, and we found out that things like this have happened to him before, but it still freaked a lot of us out. He's okay, by the way. No injuries or major problems.

The sermon in church today was what really interested me, though, once I stopped worrying and was able to concentrate. The title was "I Wish Life Came With An Eraser." That made me think. I, personally, wish that life came with an 'Undo' button. Most of the things I regret are things that I've said, and I generally regret them right after I say them. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to hit 'Undo' and take back that hurtful comment, that thoughtless word, that argument that just makes things worse? It would save so much time and so many feelings. Since I don't have one, however, I've just learned to be a little more careful with what I say. Sometimes, of course, I still slip. I hate that.

Still...thanks to Jesus's death and resurrection, which, for me, is the whole deal behind Easter, God hits the BIG 'Undo' button and gets rid of every bad thing we've ever done. I think that's cool. Hope that wasn't too religious for all of 'ya. You can start reading again. I'm done with that for now.

Anyway, that's pretty much my thoughts on Easter. I got to spend time with my family, my friends, and my fiancee. Spiff. I also learned a new word today! Say it with me! 'SHMILY!' Isn't that a fun word? It has a neat story behind it, too:

Once there was a little girl who stayed with her grandparents. She noticed that her grandparents would leave odd little notes for each other around the house, and all the notes ever said was 'SHMILY.' Her grandmother would leave a note in her grandfather's lunch box, and her grandfather would read it and smile. Her grandfather would write the word in the steam on the mirror from her grandmother's shower, and her grandmother would read it and smile. The little girl didn't know what the word meant, but she knew it must be a good word because it put a smile on the face of whoever read it.
Years went by, and the little girl grew up. Her grandmother fought a battle with cancer and ultimately lost. At her grandmother's funeral, the girl noticed a beautiful bouquet on the casket, tied with a yellow ribbon that said, quite simply, 'SHMILY.'
On that day, the girl found out what that funny little word meant. It wasn't a word at all, but an acronym for what her grandparents were really saying to each other: 'See How Much I Love You.'

Isn't that a wonderful story? I got it from the sermon today. I love that...one little word expressing all that love. You just know that those two people had a love that kept them going, a love that would never end. Stories like that are so nifty. I hope that, when I get married, my husband and I will never stop doing sweet little things like that for each other.

Hrm. This entry is more sweet and introspective and things like that than it is funny. Ah, well. One doesn't have to be funny all the time, does one?

CHANGE OF SUBJECT!

Tomorrow, I get to start Spring Term! To be honest, I'm really looking forward to it. No, I'm not insane. I really do like school. College is cool. You get to pick your schedule (kinda) and what classes you WANT to take. I've taken all my basic core classes, so now I'm trying to take classes that will help with my Graphic Designer goal. Unfortunately, it's hard to get into classes when you don't get to register until the second-to-last day of registration. Blargh. Ah, well. Here's a secret for all you college folks, if you don't know: If you don't get into the class you want, show up on the first day anyway and ask to be added. It's worked for me 9 times out of 10. This has been your Elfie College Tip!

Okay, I'm rambling on and I have nothing else of any worth to say at this time. Next post: That Fun Survey That Everyone's Been Taking! See 'ya then!
