The Best Laid Plans...
Jan. 11th, 2007 11:53 amWhen I made my plans for today, my day looked very busy. Plans included:
6:00 am: Wake up.
6:20 am: Breakfast.
6:45 am: Head out to the bus stop.
7:06 am: Catch bus.
7:30 am: Go to Cafe' Perugino's for a reviving double espresso.
8:15 am: Educational Psychology Class.
12:00 pm: Lunch.
1:15 pm: Driving Lesson.
3:00 pm: Knitting Club.
7:00 pm: Dinner theater at Springfield High.
9:00 pm: Double-check homework.
9:30 pm: Bed.
This morning, however, I woke up to EXTREME SNOW. The fact that it is this heavy down in the valley (and hasn't really stopped snowing all day) makes me shiver when I think of what it must be like up in the hills. Needless to say, I decided against school this morning. This decision was reinforced by the radio telling me that every school in town (except for the U of O) was closed. After breakfast and a little naalbinding practice with Mum (Mum says my work is very neat), I bid the rest of the family farewell (why do they never close U of O?) and settled in for a relaxed morning. I knitted and listened to my current audiobook (The ABC Murders by Agatha Christie) for most of the morning, pausing only to call at a reasonable hour to cancel my driving lesson. At around 11:00, I got myself some lunch (leftover risotto with ham, fresh peas, and parmesan from Beppe & Gianni's, a "pear salad" consisting of one ripe pear, crumbled blue cheese, crumbled candied pecans, and balsamic vinegar, bread, and a glass of milk). Now, I'm ready to return to my nest and work on Alex's sweater a bit more before checking to make sure that I don't have any homework due tomorrow.
It's nice to have a little time alone sometimes.
I hope that none of you have to drive in the snow today, but if you do, drive carefully!
