Harry Potter!
Nov. 22nd, 2005 11:35 pmWhat a day.
Alex and I got up at our regular time yesterday morning, but we headed out early to see if we could score an XBox 360. (We have many Mighty Best Buy coupons, enough to take about a quarter off of the usual asking price.) Of course, as all of you who are reading this know, we scored no XBox. At most places, the shipments were small, and most of the units were gone shortly after midnight(!). Alex and I arrived at Best Buy when it opened, only to find that some people had literally camped in the parking lot in hopes of getting their hands on one of these shiny objects. We missed one--by being about two people too late in line. Rawr. Also, the guy running the line was rude.
After this minor disappointment (we are not insane enough to pay $1,500 on E-Bay just so we can have the damned thing), we wandered over to Early Rise for yummy coffee. That went a long way toward making me feel better. Then we went to school and parked, only to find that the meter was only masquerading as a Working Meter. In reality, it was an Evil Coin-Eating Meter. It ate some change and continued to blink "Expired" in a smug fashion. We went and reported it to Campus Safety for future discipline. After that, we went to class. Here, I fared better than Alex. He had a homework assignment that he didn't know about. Oops. I had fairly normal class.
After class, we went to my mom-in-law's house. She had called Alex right before he left to pick me up to tell him that she couldn't get her printer to print. We had to rush over there, as she had to be somewhere shortly after we arrived. It didn't take long for Alex to fix her problem, and then we went shopping for Christmas presents for some nifty kids who will have no idea who gave them their presents. ^_^
Following shopping, we went to meet my dad at the local movie theater so that we could buy tickets for Harry Potter. I brought along my dad's "Owl Post," but I refused to let him look at it until Mom arrived. We got into the theater just in time to watch the pre-preview advertisements (it took a while for Mom to get there), and I gave Dad his present. He was absolutely thrilled. He pulled the scarf out and cuddled it, asked whether I had knitted it myself (and was properly impressed when I said yes) and insisted on wearing it home. I am pleased. He also promised to update me on his coworkers' reactions--they're all going to be jealous. I made sure to tell him that I am not knitting scarves for them. ^_^;; I'm just thrilled with Dad's reaction.
Brief, non-spoileriffic review of Harry Potter 4: It's the best HP movie yet. I hope they keep this director. They did a fantastic job of adapting the book. I was quite impressed.
Now, it's time to go and drink my coffee and think about school and cleaning for Thanksgiving (we're hosting the family Thanksgiving tomorrow). Whee!
