Elfie fall down, go BOOM.

Owie. Yesterday, I experienced my first BIKE WRECK! Whee! I lost control of the steering and fell off the trail, got tangled up in my bike, skidded on my hands, and landed in a blackberry bush. I also broke off the handlebar assembly. Ow. However, I got out of it with just a few scrapes and bruises. Remember to wear a helmet, kids! It probably saved my life! Oh, and leather biking gloves are a wonderful thing, too. I didn't even scrape my hands. *holds out scrape-free hands proudly* I did, however, scrape my shoulder. *shows scraped shoulder* It turned out more like a rugburn...didn't even tear my clothes. Still hurts a bit, though. Final wound count: 1 scraped shoulder (asphalt burn), 1 scraped arm (asphalt), 1 scraped knee (ditto), 1 scratched arm (blackberry bush). Hit points: 20/21. I'm a little stiff today. ^_^;;

Of course, I was biking with Alex, so that makes everything all better. Alex is my hero. A few seconds after I went down, he was right next to me, asking, "Are you okay?!" He helped me untangle myself from the bike and hugged me until I recovered from the shock. He wasn't even worried about the bike, even though he built it and paid for it. He checked my scrapes and bruises, and THEN he checked the bike. If it had been ridable, I would have been willing to ride it back to the car. As it was, Alex carried my bike while I walked his. We went as far as the nearest turn-off thingy, then he pedaled as hard as he could to the car and brought it back to pick me up, saving both of us about a 2-mile walk. Then he took me to the store, got antibiotic ointment, bandages, and medicinal chocolate (^__^), and tended my wounds. I say it again, Alex is my hero. I love him lots and lots. I snuggled him muchly (and carefully). I WILL LIVE TO BIKE AGAIN!

Well, gotta get back to work. Yet another day in the life. More later.
